Move over, Spiderman…we’re going on a garden adventure to meet some true super powers! Creeping, crawling wonders that save the day by creating rich soil for all our plants and animals to flourish. We’ll get down and dirty discovering the dark underworld of dirt! You’ll meet Wonder Worm, Milli Man and more. Come dressed for digging!

Can You Hear Me Now? (Science Series)

Animals have developed unique sounds to allow them to attract mates, avoid danger and "talk" with each other. We can learn a lot about the animals around us by listening to their calls. Through games and activities, young biologists will learn to identify birds by their songs and how to "sing" like a frog. We’ll explore the garden and listen to the variety of sounds around us, then return to make our own animal noisemaker.

Pioneers couldn’t just go to the store to buy the things they needed to survive—they had to be self-sufficient. In this class, children will learn about weaving and how to make rope, candles, soap and a cornhusk doll.

Pottery Workshop: Session 1 (Art Series)

Get all fired up! Day one of this two-day
workshop will be spent creating clay objects inspired by nature. When participants return the next week, they will decorate and glaze their ceramics and will be able to pick up their work at a later date. Workshops taught by Meghan Yarnell and other members of the Toledo Potter’s Guild.

After a short introduction indoors, budding artists will set-up easels around the Garden and experiment with chalk, pencil and watercolor. Our educators will be on-hand to assist your young Picasso and offer input. Participants will take their priceless "originals" home.

Budding gardeners will explore the Garden observing the variety of color and design to provide inspiration as they create their own flower arrangement. They will also learn about the craft and lore of fairy gardens and make an accessory to help them create their own fairy garden at home. Members of the Anthony Wayne Garden Club have volunteered to teach this class and share their gardening knowledge, passion and expertise.
