The Hands-On Studio is open to the public and offers a full complement of creative workshops. We have the ability to create a workshop around your group’s needs—or make the space available for your art group’s events.
Hands-On Studio also has open studio time. The studio is located next to the Photo Arts Club at Toledo Botanical Garden and can also be accessed off Olimphia Dr. between TBG’s main entrance and Holland-Sylvania Rd.
Creative workshops include:
No experience required! Includes instructions, supplies, tools and safety equipment. Make pendants, earrings, magnets, pins and more.
Batik & Rust Dyeing
Use layered dyes and melted wax to explore ancient fabric patterns of batik. Learn the art and techniques of making dyes from natural and synthetic materials!

A wet felting process that combines wool roving and silk fabric for beautiful results!
Make a stoneware rattle, ocarina, rainstick or drum, in a series of one-session workshops.
Altered tins & cigar boxes, paper & fabric stitched collages & fobots are all examples of collage workshops at Hands-On.
MIXING SAFE AND AFFORDABLE CONE SIX GLAZES
For beginner to intermediate potters. Learn to mix glazes, using simple and affordable materials. Learn chemistry basics, make glaze tests, and then make and keep your own bucket of stable, food safe glaze. Recipes provided!
