Since 1996, Toledo GROWs has taught thousands of people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, how to grow their own produce while beautifying their neighborhoods. Toledo GROWs provides seeds, plants, tools, planting materials, expertise, and volunteers in support of over 165 community gardens throughout urban Toledo.
The Robert J. Anderson Urban Agriculture Center is the urban hub of Toledo GROWs outreach program. The center, built by youth from the CITE program of the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Division, along with GROWs staff and other volunteers, furnishes resources to the community gardens, training in urban agriculture, and job readiness opportunities to area youth. The center is a true demonstration of community collaboration.
